Quality Concerns: Four Cable Products Fail Guangdong Government Inspection
The Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation recently announced the results of the 2025 post-certification supervision inspections for industrial product production license holders. Among 12 non-compliant products found, 4 were wire and cable products.

Tongbao Cable, founded in 1993 with annual production capacity exceeding RMB 1.5 billion and holding multiple certifications including CCC certification, was cited for failing the insulation shrinkage test. When insulation materials shrink excessively after heating, the insulation layer can degrade at elevated operating temperatures, potentially exposing conductors and creating electric shock and short-circuit risks.
The inspection also revealed that among 68 licensed cable companies, 61 had recommended improvement items, indicating industry-wide quality management issues.
The Guangdong Provincial Administration has ordered the involved companies to cease sales of non-compliant products. Non-compliant product information has been entered into the supervision and inspection database and quality credit files and is being publicly disclosed.
