South Korean cable manufacturer Gaon Cable announced in June 2026 that it has recently supplied hundreds of billions of KRW worth of transmission cables to a U.S. solar power park grid construction project.

U.S. Market Expansion:

The surge in AI data center construction in the U.S. has created electricity shortages, driving expanded investment in new power sources, including solar parks, and transmission grid construction. Gaon Cable is capitalizing on this trend.

Key Developments:

  • Exports to the U.S. are expected to more than double from approximately 100 billion KRW last year to 200 billion KRW this year

  • Its U.S. subsidiary LSCUS has secured long-term busduct supply contracts worth over 5 trillion KRW with global tech giants

  • Gaon Cable is now supplying from transmission cables connecting power plants and data centers to busducts for internal data center distribution

CEO Jeong Hyeon stated: “AI data center and renewable energy-related products have higher added value compared to general industrial products and are contributing to profitability improvement. We will continue to optimize our business portfolio around high-value-added products.”
