China Issues New Standard for Flexible Cables for Industrial Robots
The China Machinery Industry Federation held a review meeting in January 2026 for the new group standard “Flexible Cables for Industrial Robots,” filling a significant technical gap in the industry .
Standard Scope:
Led by Suzhou Kebao Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd.
Jointly drafted with robot manufacturers including Yaskawa, Estun Robotics, and cable manufacturers
Standard focuses on dynamic operating conditions for industrial robots, specifying mechanical life, torsion resistance, and oil resistance
Key Technical Specifications:
Mechanical life testing: 5 million drag chain tests, 1 million 90-degree bending tests
Torsion resistance: ±180°/meter rotation angle verification
Oil resistance: 70% tensile strength retention after 100°C × 24h oil immersion
Application-Specific Requirements:
Arc welding robots: Enhanced high-temperature resistance (-30°C to 120°C)
Handling robots: Increased bending fatigue cycles
Painting robots: IP67 protection certification
Industry Impact:
The standard is expected to eliminate low-quality cable products, drive industry upgrading toward high performance, and reduce robot system integration costs by 15-20%. It also references international standards including Germany's VDE-PB-0022 and the US ULRP5770 to enhance global competitiveness .
