Philatron Introduces Philaflex-HF-125™ for AI Data Centers at +125°C
In March 2026, Philatron Wire & Cable launched the Philaflex-HF-125™, a halogen-free power cable engineered for continuous operation at +125°C, specifically addressing the extreme thermal demands of AI data centers and hyperscale computing infrastructure .
The Challenge:
As data centers shift from traditional IT environments to high-density AI infrastructure, GPU clusters operate at near-peak utilization for extended periods, generating sustained electrical stress and continuous heat that can exceed the limits of standard 90°C rated cables . Localized hotspots near high-current connectors can reach temperatures where conventional PVC and XLPE insulation degrades.
Technical Advantages over PVC and XLPE:
Material | Continuous Temperature | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
PVC | 60-90°C | Degrades above 60-70°C; releases corrosive HCl gas |
XLPE | 90°C | Emergency 105°C (72 hrs); thermal expansion issues above 80°C |
Philaflex-HF-125™ | +125°C | ASTM D794 certified; maintains integrity at sustained high temps |
Safety Benefits:
The halogen-free LSZH insulation eliminates the release of corrosive gases in a fire, protecting sensitive semiconductor equipment. It also emits significantly less smoke, improving evacuation visibility and eliminating toxic gas inhalation risks .
