With 82 days to go before the opening, setup for the world's largest folk festival begins on Monday morning, June 29, at 7 a.m. For twelve weeks, work continues daily at the Theresienwiese . The first phase involves erecting the large festival tents, followed by smaller tents. At the end of August, carnival operators arrive – first setting up tall rides like the Ferris wheel and roller coasters, then carousels and booths . Each large tent requires 70 to 100 truckloads of material; for Pletschacher's warehouses alone, deliveries total over 1,000 truckloads. 35,000 square meters of flooring is laid per tent, along with kilometers of cables and gas/water lines .
