Sterlumiq and AP Sensing Partner on Advanced Power Cable Monitoring
On June 25, 2026, Sterlumiq—a joint venture between Sterlite Electric and RDT Lumiker—announced a strategic commercial and technology partnership with AP Sensing, a global leader in distributed fiber-optic sensing (DFOS) solutions. The collaboration aims to jointly develop and sell advanced integrated monitoring solutions for the global power cable and overhead line industries.
The partnership combines AP Sensing's expertise in Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), and Distributed Temperature and Strain Sensing (DTSS) with Sterlumiq's Cable Advanced Monitoring Optical System (CAMOS) and electrical current sensing capabilities. Together, these technologies provide utilities and transmission system operators with enhanced visibility into cable condition, performance, and emerging risks through a unified monitoring environment.
Sterlumiq CEO Manuel Munoz Luengo explained: "Both DFOS and CAMOS provide different but highly complementary perspectives on cable behavior. Distributed sensing allows us to observe temperature, acoustic activity and strain across the cable route, while CAMOS adds direct intelligence from phase and screen-current measurements. Correlating these signals can provide a much deeper understanding of asset condition, fault behavior and available capacity". The partnership will initially focus on regional cross-selling and integrating technologies into scalable solutions for high- and medium-voltage cable networks across international markets
