LS Cable & System Wins Busduct Supply Contract for Hyundai Motor's Battery Campus
In July 2026, South Korean cable leader LS Cable & System was confirmed as the supplier of power infrastructure, including busduct distribution systems, for Hyundai Motor's Future Mobility Battery Anseong Campus (MAAC) currently under construction in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.
MAAC is Hyundai Motor's KRW 1.2 trillion battery R&D and pilot production facility. The value of LS Cable & System's power infrastructure supply contract (including busduct systems) for this campus is estimated to be in the hundreds of billions of KRW range. This marks the first time LS Cable & System has publicly confirmed busduct supply to a Hyundai Motor battery production facility.
Busducts are high-capacity power distribution systems consisting of copper or aluminum conductors enclosed in prefabricated metal housing. Compared to traditional cable installations, they are more suitable for transmitting high currents, offer lower power losses, and simplify installation. They are widely used in power-intensive facilities such as semiconductor fabs, display manufacturing plants, battery factories, and AI data centers.
LS Cable & System developed Korea's first busduct in 1984 and currently holds over 50% of the domestic market share. Its products are installed in major industrial facilities including Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek Campus and LG Display's Paju Manufacturing Complex. The company offers a complete busduct product line from low-voltage to high-voltage and small to large capacity, featuring -55°C cold-resistant design and seismic performance.
LS Cable & System previously supplied enameled wire for traction motors to Hyundai and Kia's electric vehicle models including the IONIQ 5 and EV6. The MAAC project collaboration represents a further expansion of the partnership in the EV components sector.
