binder Introduces Triangular Moulding for Enhanced Mechanical Performance

Source:Industrial Automation / Time:2026-08-05

In March 2026, binder unveiled a design innovation: a specially developed triangular moulding geometry now being used for the first time in revised M16 cable connectors as well as M12 K- and L-coded cable connectors .

Mechanical Benefits:

  • Optimized force distribution in the transition area between cable and connector

  • Bending and tensile forces are dissipated more evenly

  • Enhanced anti-twist protection improves overall connection stability

  • Extended service life in demanding environments with continuous cable movement

Handling Improvements:

  • Structured geometry provides users with a better grip during assembly and disassembly

  • Reduces potential dirt traps in the connection area

  • Easier cleaning in industrial environments exposed to dust, oil, or contaminants

The design is featured in binder's M16 Series 425 cable connectors, available with 3 to 12 contacts, supporting rated voltages up to 150 V and currents up to 3 A. The connectors meet IP67 and IP68 protection standards .

Sebastian Ader, Product Manager at binder, explained: "With the triangular moulding, we have not only modernised the design of our M16 and M12 K- and L-coded cable connectors, but also enabled better grip and easier cleaning in the connection area"
