Nexans Türkiye Upgrades Entire Portfolio to Higher Fire-Safety CPR Cca-Class

Source:Industrial Automation / Time:2026-08-07

In February 2026, Nexans Türkiye announced that it has adopted CPR Cca-class cables—offering higher fire safety performance—as its new standard across its entire portfolio. The high fire-performance cables developed at its R&D centers in Denizli and Tuzla are designed to slow the spread of fire while limiting the formation of toxic smoke to facilitate safer evacuation .

Four Key Safety Pillars of Cca-Class Cables:

  • Flame Spread: Designed to limit the rapid progression of flames along the cable route during a fire.

  • Heat Release: Minimizes heat release that accelerates ignition of surrounding construction materials.

  • Smoke Production: Reduces smoke density to maintain breathable air and visibility in escape routes.

  • Reduction of Acidic and Toxic Gases: Halogen-free composition minimizes corrosive and toxic gas release during fire .

In densely populated environments such as hospitals, schools, shopping malls, hotels, metro stations, and tunnels—where evacuation is difficult—or in environments like data centers where operational continuity is critical, the performance of cables during a fire directly impacts life safety. Research by European cable associations shows that cables with low smoke emission and low toxicity extend evacuation time, improve visibility, and significantly enhance intervention conditions for firefighting teams .

Atilla Kurtiş, Nexans Middle East and Africa Regional Director, stated: "Every second counts during a fire. Low smoke and low toxicity play a critical role in enabling the safe evacuation of people. According to data from the Istanbul Fire Department, a significant portion of fires each year is caused by electrical faults or installation-related issues. Our Cca-class cables provide the 'golden minutes' needed for safe evacuation" .
