Kempower Mega Satellite Flex: Dual CCS and MCS Connectors for Megawatt Truck Charging

Source:Industrial Automation / Time:2026-08-07

Kempower has unveiled the Mega Satellite Flex dispenser at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, supporting both CCS and MCS connectors in a single charging station. This dual-connector approach helps charging providers achieve high utilization rates during the transition from CCS to MCS for electric trucks.

Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum charging power: 1.2 MW with MCS or 560 kW with CCS

  • Supports currents up to 1,500 amperes

  • Available in Europe and North America from July 2026

Market Context:
MCS technology, standardized under IEC TS 63379, defines operating voltages up to 1,250 volts and currents up to 3,000 amperes, allowing peak charging power up to 3.75 megawatts. However, MCS faces a classic chicken-and-egg dilemma: vehicle manufacturers have yet to integrate MCS connectors as standard in electric trucks, while there are still very few MCS charging stations.

As Jussi Vanhanen, Kempower CPO, stated: "We're proud to be introducing our newest solution designed to support our customers in taking the next step toward zero-emission heavy-duty transportation. Our flexible solution supports operators to take the leap by enabling them to serve more vehicle types, increasing site utilization and return on investment in the short-term, while also getting ready for the MCS transition."

Kempower reports that more than 4,300 charging sessions have been carried out using its MCS charging systems to date, with a cumulative total exceeding 500 MWh charged.
