Hirose Introduces FX36 Series Floating Board-to-Board Connector for EV Powertrains
Hirose Electric released the FX36 Series, a 0.5mm pitch floating board-to-board connector designed for harsh automotive powertrain environments in BEV/HEV inverters, converters, and onboard chargers .
Key Specifications:
Pitch: 0.5mm
Floating range: ±0.7mm (X and Y)
Effective mating length: ±0.5mm (Z)
Z-direction vibration absorption: 0.05mm
Temperature rating: up to 125°C
Contact structure: Two-point contact for reliability
The floating mechanism tolerates board misalignment of ±0.7mm in X and Y directions, improving assembly yield and accommodating PCB tolerance stack-ups. The vibration absorption structure in the Z direction attenuates PCB amplitude, maintaining stable contact in high-vibration automotive environments. A two-point contact structure provides redundant contact paths, improving robustness against micro-fretting and contamination over the vehicle lifetime .
Applications: X-in-1 powertrain units, traction inverters, onboard chargers, electric power steering ECUs, and domain controllers. Builds on Hirose's FX26 (1.0mm pitch) platform with finer pitch for denser layouts .
