CommScope Debuts FastSelfClean™ High-Density Connector Technology for AI Data Centers
CommScope announced the upcoming debut of its FastSelfClean™ high-density fiber connectivity technology at Computex 2026, featuring a unique self-cleaning connector design that actively cleans fiber end-faces with each insertion .
Key Technical Specifications:
V-groove fiber seating provides exceptionally low insertion loss by maintaining precise fiber alignment during connection .
Initial product release will feature 144 fibers in a single connector (FSC144) .
Modular, stackable connector engine design enables customization using 8-, 12-, or 16-fiber ribbons .
Fibers remain concealed and protected from contamination until mated .
Deployment Benefits:
Capable of connecting 3,456 fibers in 1RU with just 24 physical connections .
Achieves up to 98.5% reduction in fiber connection installation time .
Rocky Colapietro, General Manager of CommScope Data Center, stated: "FastSelfClean technology will meet the need for faster, more reliable deployment while also providing exceptional density and low-loss performance, enabling fewer people to deploy more connections, more reliably, in less space, and in much less time" .
The technology is scheduled for release as a 144-fiber connector in 2027 for worldwide distribution .
